Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer won the Republican nomination again for the 100th Illinois House District and will likely run unopposed in the November general election.
The Jacksonville legislator won handily against Pike County business owner Jonas Petty, netting more than 75 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results Tuesday night.
“It’s always interesting running as the current representative,” said Davidsmeyer. “It’s even more difficult when you try to run a solid, positive campaign focusing on what you believe in. I’m happy I was able to do that and that people understood and think I’m doing the best for the 100th District.”
Petty, who runs the William Watson Hotel in Pittsfield and a chain of coffee shops, said he appreciated the clean and fair campaign his opponent ran.
